If you're running a grocery store, you have plenty of choices to make on a daily business that will impact your success. You have to think critically about each decision you make, but you also have to act quickly and decide within a reasonable amount of time. One decision that you will eventually face as a grocery store owner is whether or not to charge for custom wine bags.

Since plastic bags are clearly harming the environment, they're pretty much on their way out of the industry. People aren't going to be using plastic bags too much in the near future but for now, many grocery stores still have both plastic and reusable options. The U.S. still uses about 100 billion plastic bags per year, with the average shopper using between 350 and 500 a year. Unfortunately, these bags end up sitting stagnant in landfills for decades.

If one person chooses to switch to reusable bags, however, that could end up removing more than 22,000 plastic bags from the environment over their lifetime.

Because of this, many more shoppers are going to be using reusable bags. In fact, reusable wine bags and wholesale custom wine bags are on the rise.

So it's up to you to decide whether or not to charge your customers for using these reusable bags.

There are pros and cons to both options -- so it's important you take a serious look at your business strategy before making your final decision.

If you're running a smaller operation, you're probably going to need that extra cash from your customers. Hopefully they will understand and have no problem spending an extra dollar or two. If you're running a much larger grocery store, however, people might think you're taking advantage of them if you're charging extra just to have a reusable wine bag.

These aren't easy decisions and if you're somewhere between a small and large store, consider running a promotional event where under certain circumstances, a customer can waive the wine bag fee. If someone is buying eight or nine bottles of wine, they are clearly going to spend a decent amount of money in your store. Perhaps customers purchasing more than a certain number of wine bottles could also leave with a complimentary wine bag. If your customer is only purchasing one or two bottles, however, the promotion may not apply.

Whatever decision you make for your business, it's best to buy wholesale custom wine bags in bulk from a wholesale supplier. If you want to learn more about the benefits of reusable shopping bags and find quality wholesale custom wine bags, contact Holden Bags today.
